# Use todos

> Keep work connected to thoughts and choose when it repeats.

A todo can stand on its own or stay linked to a thought.

## Add a todo

Open **Todos** and use the todo form. You can also accept the actionable suggestion when [capturing a thought](/use/capture).

Type `#tags` in the name to attach them. Changing the name updates those tag links, including removing an association when its token is removed.

To capture a separate thought from Todos, choose **Need to Tuck something away?** or use `⌘K` on Mac or `Ctrl+K` on Windows and Linux. Hiding the composer keeps your draft.

## Make it repeat

Use **Repeat** on the todo form or an existing todo. Choose **Every day**, **Every week**, **Every month**, **Specific weekdays**, **Every N…**, or **Custom**.

For example, use **Custom** for every two weeks on Monday and Thursday. Completing a repeating todo schedules its next occurrence.

A target such as three times per week belongs in [Habits](/use/habits), where Tuck keeps a completion log. Todos do not offer **Times per period**.

## Keep linked work together

A linked todo uses its thought's brain and follows the thought when you move it. It does not have a separate brain picker. Standalone todos keep their own brain control.

When you delete a thought with linked todos, the confirmation lets you also delete those todos. Leave that option unchecked to keep them as standalone todos.

Deleting a thought returns you to the list you came from.
