# Set up Tuck

> Create your account, create your vault, and save your Recovery Kit.

## 1. Create your account

Create an account on tuckthis.app. Tuck confirms your email with a sign-in link. If early access is enabled, signup may also ask for an invite code.

After your first sign-in, you can add a passkey so future sign-ins do not require an email link.

## 2. Create your vault

On your first device, Tuck asks you to create a **vault passphrase**. This is different from signing in to your Tuck account.

Choose something strong that you can remember. Tuck uses it to unlock the encryption key for your vault.

## 3. Save your Recovery Kit

Tuck creates a Recovery Kit when your vault is created. Store it somewhere you can reach if you forget your vault passphrase.

## 4. Tuck your first thought

Focus the capture box with `⌘K` on Mac or `Ctrl+K` on Windows and Linux. Type something and press Enter.

That is enough to start.
