# Tuck concepts

> The small set of ideas that make the rest of Tuck easier to understand.

## Thought

Something you saved in Tuck. It can be a sentence, a longer note, a file, an audio recording, a reminder, or a mix of those things.

## Tuck it

The action that saves a thought.

## Inbox

The default brain. It is the safest place for fast capture because you can organize a thought later.

## Brain

A collection for a project, topic, or area. Brains can be nested up to three levels and can have their own color and emoji.

## Tag

An inline label written with `#`, such as `#idea` or `#follow-up`. Tags stay in the sentence rather than living in a separate metadata form.

## Person

A person you can mention with `@`. People can include contact details, notes, files, and context from connected calendars and mail.

## Vault

Your encrypted Tuck data. Your vault is unlocked with a vault passphrase or Recovery Kit.

## Recovery Kit

A separate recovery secret that can unlock the same vault key if you forget your passphrase.
